The SCIL participants started the day with a presentation from Ryan Roers, Chief Financial Officer of the Nordic Group, while receiving a tour at Seats Incorporated. Ryan spoke on supply chain shortages, the need to improvise as a leader, and the innovations that make Seats successful. One such innovation? Offering on-site medical and chiropractic care to its employees.

Authentic Leadership was the focus of Sauk County institute of Leadership (SCIL) during their December meeting at Compeer Financial in Prairie du Sac. Who we are as a leader begins with who we are as a person and participants explored aspects of leadership that are seldom found on a checklist.

SCIL is a laboratory where we can explore the boundaries of where the light strikes us and how we're reflected into the world. As we probe the zone where the shadow begins, the texture and contrast are verrrry interesting. The more we explore that area, the broader the brilliance becomes. The more we know about ourselves, the better we can serve others.

DELLONA TOWNSHIP, WI – The November meeting of the Sauk County Institute of Leadership (SCIL) met in the Dellona Town Hall on November 10, 2022, to have a look at diversity and cultural awareness. Led by SCIL facilitator Morgan McArthur, the group was encouraged to look beyond their previous understanding of diversity and to explore their attitudes and biases.

Participants in the Sauk County Institute of Leadership (SCIL) met in the Compeer Financial conference room in Prairie du Sac on Thursday, October 13, 2022 to learn about leadership skills that are highly effective and often seem invisible. The session was themed “Leading Between the Lines.”

Almost 20 Sauk County residents came together for the first time at Durward’s Glen last week for a framing exercise that sets the building blocks for the 2022-23 Sauk County Institute of Leadership (SCIL) cohort.

Morgan has been busy this summer planning for new venues, panels, and program sessions, as we continue to find the balance in programming between leadership and community development. Along the way in the planning, Morgan conducted a deep dive into answering the question, “What allows room for an individual to be “activated” by the program? While also considering, “what makes an individual do the deep personal work?”, which more often than not sparks growth in leadership skills.

On Tuesday, May 17, the SCIL cohort and their fearless leader Morgan McArthur kicked-off their celebratory evening by presenting to the Sauk County Board of Supervisors.

The Staff of the Sauk County Health Department Receive 2022 SCIL Leadership Award. Since 2005, the Sauk County Institute of Leadership (SCIL) has presented the Sauk County Leadership Award to a resident or organization that has exhibited exemplary communication skills and the ability to empower and motivate others.

The 2021-2022 SCIL Program hosted its last SCIL session with a theme of “Celebrating Success”.

Hill Point, Wisconsin; April 14, 2022 – On April 14, Sauk County Institute of Leadership (SCIL) 2021-2022 members gathered together at the White Mound County Park to explore the topic of Leadership in Nature versus Natural Leadership.

The deadline to apply to receive the early bird discount of May 1 is approaching quickly! Final applications must be submitted by June 1. SCIL seeks out participants that bring diverse perspectives and experiences that help inform and enhance the program. All applicants are reviewed by the SCIL Board of Directors at their June board meeting.

On Thursday March 10th the Sauk County Institute of Leadership (SCIL) held its first SCIL Connect Networking Lunch at the UW-Platteville Baraboo-Sauk County campus.

On March 10, Sauk County Institute of Leadership (SCIL) 2021-2022 participants met at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville Baraboo Sauk County for their monthly leadership training day. The topic of the day was The Shadow Side of Leadership: Conflict.

SCIL gathered in Spring Green for the seventh monthly session of the program. The day included a tour of the American Players Theatre (APT) followed by group discussions at the Spring Green Community Library. The session focused on the roles of creativity in leadership and the importance of cultivating emotional intelligence.

Reedsburg, WI – The 2021/2022 Sauk County Institute of Leadership (SCIL) class gathered at MATC’s Reedsburg campus with an esteemed panel of leaders in addressing Sauk County’s opioid epidemic to discuss measures being taken on a county level to address the issue.

The Sauk County Institute of Leadership (SCIL) continued its 2021-22 class on December 9 with an all-day session focusing on the importance of authenticity in leadership and how adverse life events form and shape leaders. Participants shared stories about difficult experiences with one another and explored how these have formed them into leaders.

The 2021/2022 Sauk County Institute of Leadership (SCIL) members gathered together at Camp Gray in Reedsburg for their November meeting held on Veterans Day. They explored the topic of diversity under the guiding statement of “Diversity is the one true thing we have in common…Celebrate it every day.” SSM Health St. Clare Hospital- Baraboo sponsored the day’s events. 

This year’s Sauk County Institute of Leadership (SCIL) class met on Thursday, October 14th, at the new Rock Springs Community Center to continue their growth as leaders in our community.

This past week 18 leaders from across Sauk County were welcomed to Durward’s Glen Retreat Center at W11876 McLeish Rd, Baraboo, WI to kick off the 2021/2022 season of SCIL (Sauk County Institute of Leadership).
